In 1958, the Bernardine Sisters of St. Francis welcomed the first students to St. Joseph the Worker School. By the end of the next decade, a third story was added to the original two-story building on New Falls Road and a kindergarten program was added to the curriculum in order to accommodate the burgeoning population of the parish. |

In addition to the third floor, other improvements to the St. Joseph building have been added over the years including a state-of-the art technology center, a fully equipped library, a sophisticated science lab, a cafeteria that serves hot lunches, and a wiring infrastructure to accommodate a school-wide computer network and access to the Internet from all classrooms and offices. While the school and its faculty and students have made many advancements in the fields of academics, athletics and religion throughout the years, there are a few traditions at St. Joseph the Worker that have remained constant - such as the Christmas Tableau, the live student portrayal of the Stations of the Cross, and the strong family support of the school and its programs. Throughout the nearly fifty years of the school, lay and religious faculty have continued St. Joseph the Worker’s mission of academic excellence, spiritual formation, character development, and social and physical growth for more than 2,000 young men and women. |
